Youth Soccer Development Sydney | Speed, Agility & Injury Prevention

Led by John Quinn — former Head Conditioner of the Socceroos and a three-time Olympic athletics coach — supported by Roshan Philip, a physiotherapist working inside NPL football. Built around the running volume, repeat-sprint demands, and speed that define modern football.

THE PROGRAM

BUILT FOR THE DEMANDS OF FOOTBALL

Soccer is the highest running-volume sport in the world. Young players cover huge distances, repeat high-intensity sprints, and change direction hundreds of times per match. Generic gym work doesn't prepare them for that — sport-specific conditioning does.

01

Running Volume & Aerobic Base

Football requires large running volumes maintained across 80-90 minutes. We build the aerobic capacity that underpins every other physical quality — because you can't sprint repeatedly if your base isn't strong.

02

Sprint Speed & Repeat Sprint Ability

The difference between a good junior footballer and a great one often comes down to maximum sprint speed and the ability to repeat those sprints across a match. With an Olympic sprint coach leading the program, your young footballer gets sprint mechanics coaching of a standard almost no junior player ever receives.

03

Change of Direction & Agility

Football is played in every direction. Linear speed isn't enough. Lateral agility, deceleration mechanics, and reactive change of direction are built into every program — the physical qualities that separate skilled footballers from athletic ones.

04

Injury Prevention for Junior Footballers

Groin, hamstring, and ankle injuries are the biggest burdens in junior football. Preventative programming — adductor strength, hamstring eccentric work, ankle stability — woven into every session, backed by physiotherapy oversight.

HOW IT WORKS

ASSESSMENT. PROGRAM. PROGRESS.

Every young footballer starts with a comprehensive assessment. Programming is then built around their physical profile, their position, and their playing schedule.

01

Physical Profile Assessment

Aerobic capacity testing, sprint profiling, change of direction assessment, and movement screening. We understand exactly where your young footballer sits before building any program.

02

Football-Specific Programming

Periodised around the football season — pre-season conditioning blocks, in-season maintenance, and taper protocols leading into key fixtures. Position-specific where relevant.

03

Re-Testing & Season Monitoring

Regular re-assessment across the season. Objective data drives progression. Preventative work scaled up during heavy training weeks, tournaments, and rep selection periods.
